This position is for Spring 2019 through Spring 2020.


Under direct supervision of the Office of Innovation (OOI), the Marketing Intern will be responsible for spreading the awareness and use of events and services for the Office of Innovation. He or she will be a leader on campus who has a sincere interest in advancing the professionalism of APU students and alumni.


  • Design and implement an ongoing marketing plan promoting available services via email, print, and other online media. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
  • Research, brainstorm, develop, and suggest strategies for how to effectively reach all target groups
  • Work directly with OOI staff to advertise, promote, and market events for students and alumni
  • Photograph all events and upload them onto the shared drive for storage and use in future media
  • Collaborate with other offices and academic departments on campus to integrate
  • OOI marketing items into each applicable office and encourage the use of workshops and other presentations
  • Acquire and organize marketing items in preparation for events, presentations, or information tables
  • Build email marketing campaigns to support inbound marketing approach
  • Build website blog posts, landing pages and events to support our marketing content and activity
  • Manage social media profiles and presence
  • Manage all social media content- drafting, scheduling and tracking social content
  • Review emails, blog posts, and other content pieces for spelling, grammar and accuracy, and ensure all content maintains the Zuventurez brand voice
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events and the fulfillment of digital collateral and promotional items for each event
  • Work closely with the design and events intern with basic design and copy creation for marketing collaterals across all digital platforms
  • Collaborate with OOI interns, especially the Graphic Design Intern
  • Report on web traffic, performance of blog content, social platform activity, email campaigns, lead score changes, form submissions, etc.
  • Participate in OOI events

  • Business, Marketing, Journalism, or Communication major
  • Junior or Senior class standing at start of internship
  • Proven experience in developing successful and creative/original marketing plans
  • Solid copywriting, organizational and communication skills
  • Solid understanding and utilization of various social media platforms and scheduling tools (i.e. Hootsuite, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Prior experience with email marketing or email marketing tools (i.e. Mail Chimp)
  • Previous experience with workflow organizational platforms (i.e. Asana, Slack, Evernote, Trello)
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and under supervision


  • 1-2 years of relevant experience with content or community managing
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or similar software
  • Excellent writing and researching skills
  • Prior SEO knowledge a plus!
  • Meticulous proofreader who can spot a typo from a mile away
  • A self-starter who works well in a team environment



    This position is for Summer 2018 through Spring 2019

    In the role of the Video Production Intern, you'll bring forth the vision of the Office of Innovation (OOI) across different teams to represent the program, brand, and culture surrounding our Zuventurez mission. As part of the OOI team, you will be involved with aspects of video creation. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and experience in building creative and compelling audience-specific content.


    • The Video Production Intern will report to the Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (DOIE) and will working alongside the OOI team to conceptualize, brainstorm and present ideas that align with our goals for high-quality branding and marketing.
    • Create and edit short-form video content
    • Responsible for pre and post-production editing 
    • Collaborate with the team to draft creative content for our YouTube channel
    • Come up with new ideas and contribute to the creative process by quickly taking a story from concept to content
    • Shoot and edit video footage from both single camera and multi-camera setup
    • Clearly communicate with project key stakeholders to deliver projects on-time
    • Participate in OOI events
    • Other duties as assigned


    • Working towards a Bachelors Degree in Cinematic Arts, Film, Communications, Marketing or related field 
    • Junior or Senior class standing at start of internship
    • Proficient in the following Mac applications: Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and video conversion applications
    • Familiarity with various other video formats and applications
    • Experience shooting various content such as live events, behind the scenes, and interviews
    • Subject matter expert in video trends 
    • Excellent storyteller, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
    • Creative thinker and team player, with the ability to work under tight deadlines
    • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
    • Well versed in the culture, core beliefs, and current news and trends of early stage startups
    • A learner, never afraid to try new things, fail, and do it again (and again)
    • Effective problem solver. Comes up with creative solutions and considers many alternative solutions to each problem
    • Ability to work independently, present self in a professional manner and reflect the goals and standards of APU
    • Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment 
    • Sense of humor, honesty, and enthusiasm a must!
